Appointments
New Patients
We’re pleased to welcome new patients to Tewantin Medical Centre. If it’s your first visit, please arrive around 15 minutes early—especially if you haven’t completed your online registration.
Transferring from another practice? You can request for your medical records to be sent over before your appointment.
Appointment Types
We offer a range of appointment lengths to suit your needs:
Standard (10–15 minutes): Best for most day-to-day health concerns.
Long (20–30 minutes): Ideal if you have several issues to discuss or need a bit more time. If long appointments aren’t available online, just give our friendly reception team a call.
Phone Consultations: Available for eligible concerns and booked just like in-person visits. Standard fees and Medicare rebates apply.
Extended Appointments: Required for more complex care such as mental health plans, health assessments, minor procedures, forms, or medicals. Please let us know when booking.
Urgent Appointments
We do our best to offer same-day appointments for urgent matters. If your regular GP isn’t available, our nursing team may assess your needs and help you access the right care whether that’s another doctor or emergency services.
Phone Consultation
We offer phone consultations. These are billed the same as face-to-face appointments, with Medicare rebates available where eligible.
Getting to the clinic
Located on Poinciana Avenue, our clinic is easy to reach from Sunshine Beach and the surrounding areas. There’s free street parking available and convenient public transport options nearby.
- Driving to the Clinic: From Sunshine Beach, head south on Ben Lexcen Drive, then follow Eenie Creek Road to Reef Street. Continue via Gibson Road and Hilton Terrace into Tewantin. At the roundabout, take the third exit onto Poinciana Avenue, our clinic is just ahead on the left.
- Public Transport: Catch Bus 627 from Belmore Terrace near Stevens Street, Sunshine Beach at 6:54 am. The bus will take you directly to Tewantin Central, arriving at 7:18 am. From there, it’s a short 3-minute walk to 2/84 Poinciana Avenue, where Tewantin Medical Centre is located.
Billing and Payments
Our Medical Centre near Sunshine Beach is a private billing practice. This includes consultations for test results, prescription renewals, and follow-up visits. Out-of-pocket fees apply to most services, and we’re happy to discuss any questions you may have about billing.

Repeat Scripts
To ensure your health and safety, a consultation is usually needed for repeat prescriptions. In some cases, a phone consultation may be arranged. If it’s been more than four months since your last visit, we may ask you to come in for a review.
Test Results
All pathology and imaging results are sent directly to your GP.
- If no follow-up is required, we generally won’t contact you unless advised.
- For non-urgent results, you may receive an SMS asking you to book a review.
- If anything needs urgent attention, your GP will be in touch promptly.
If you’re unsure whether your results are back, feel free to call reception. Please note that appointments to discuss test results are privately billed.
