Drivers Licence Medicals – Commercial and Private

Drivers Licence Medicals – Commercial and Private

Private and Commercial Drivers Licence Medicals are routinely carried out by all of our doctors at the centre.

Private Licence medicals are required to be completed once reaching 75 years of age. They are also required if you develop a permanent or long-term condition which may affect your ability to drive safely. If you are uncertain about your medical condition and the impact it may have on your ability to drive safely, we recommend that you consult your doctor.

Some of the more common medical conditions that are likely to affect your ability to drive safely include:

  • diabetes
  • eye or vision problems
  • heart disease
  • neurological – dementia, stroke, seizures or epilepsy
  • psychiatric disorders
  • sleep disorders
  • alcohol or drug dependency

It is preferable that Private licence medicals are done with your usual treating doctor.

Commercial Drivers Licence Medicals are not covered by Medicare, however we will provide you with a tax invoice for your records.

The transport department is conveniently located within 100 metres of our medical practice.
