Appointments
New Patients
We welcome new patients. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first visit to complete registration if it hasn’t been done online. If you’re transferring from another practice, please request your medical records transfer prior to your appointment.
Appointment Types
- Standard (10–15 mins) – For general concerns.
- Long (20–30 mins) – For multiple concerns. If unavailable online, call reception.
- Phone Consultations – Booked like in-person visits, with the same fees and Medicare rebates.
- Extended Appointments – For procedures, medicals, forms, health assessments, and mental health plans. Inform reception when booking.
Urgent Appointments
Same-day urgent appointments are accommodated where possible. If your usual doctor is unavailable, a nurse may assess your needs, or you may be directed to emergency services if necessary.
Phone Consultation
Yes, phone consultations are available and are billed the same as in-person appointments. Medicare rebates apply where eligible.
Getting to the clinic
Driving to the Clinic:
Tewantin Medical Centre is located in Tait’s Corner, a central spot in Tewantin. If you’re coming from Noosaville or Noosa Heads, head towards Tewantin and take the third exit at the roundabout onto Butler Street. At the next roundabout, take the first exit onto Poinciana Avenue. Continue straight through two more roundabouts, and at the final roundabout, stay on Poinciana Avenue. Tewantin Medical Centre will be on your left, near the Royal Mail Hotel and Tewantin Market Garden. Free street parking is available along Poinciana Avenue, with additional parking nearby.
Public Transport
Both Bus 626 and Bus 632 run regularly throughout the Tewantin area, servicing locations across Noosa Shire, including Noosa Heads and Noosaville. You can catch the bus and get off at the Poinciana Avenue at Tewantin Primary School stop, which is just a short walk from the clinic and the nearby roundabout. If you’re travelling from Tewantin, both buses also stop at Tewantin Central.
Billing and Payments
Tewantin Medical Centre is a private billing practice. All consultations, including follow-ups for test results, attract an out-of-pocket fee.
Cancelling an appointment
To cancel or reschedule, please call our reception at (07) 5313 3277 as soon as possible. Late cancellations may incur a fee.
Appointment Confirmation and Reminders
Yes, we send SMS reminders for appointments and follow-ups. If you prefer not to receive reminders, let our reception team know.
Repeat Prescriptions
A consultation is usually required for repeat prescriptions. In some cases, a telephone consultation may be arranged. If you haven’t seen your doctor in the past four months, an in-person visit is recommended.
Test Results
Test results are sent directly to your doctor. If your results are normal, and no follow-up is needed, you won’t be contacted. However, if your symptoms persist or you’ve planned a follow-up, please schedule an appointment.
You can always call reception to check if your results have been received.
- Non-urgent results – You’ll receive a text to book an appointment. If you don’t respond, we’ll follow up with a call or letter.
- Urgent results – Your doctor will personally arrange a follow-up.
Please note, appointments for test results are privately billed.
